Our Audi A3 minor service starts at AED 650, interval service at AED 950, and major service with applicable gearbox-fluid maintenance at AED 2,600, excluding VAT. The package table below sets out the work included. Your engine, gearbox and the work actually due determine the final package.
The age-based budgets below assume 10,000–20,000 km of driving per year at our independent workshop. They cover scheduled servicing and the stated wear allowance, not every possible repair. Higher annual mileage means more services and faster consumption of tyres, brakes and other wear parts. A suspension overhaul or other major repair can take an older A3 well above AED 6,500 in one year.
Our A3 service prices
Choose the work due on your car, not the largest package. These starting prices cover ordinary petrol A3 models; we confirm engine and transmission applicability from your VIN before booking.
| Service | Starting price excluding VAT | Included work |
|---|---|---|
| Minor service | AED 650 | Engine oil meeting the correct approval, oil filter, replacement labour and basic vehicle inspection. |
| Interval service | AED 950 | Minor-service work plus engine air-filter and cabin-filter replacement. |
| Major service | AED 2,600 | Interval-service work plus petrol-engine spark plugs and applicable transmission-fluid maintenance. The exact fluid circuit, filter requirement and gearbox eligibility are confirmed by VIN. |
VAT is additional. These packages include labour for the listed work. Brake fluid, tyres, brake parts, batteries, timing-drive work, fault diagnosis and repairs are outside these packages unless itemised in your written estimate. A gearbox repair is not included in transmission-fluid maintenance. Different oil quantities, component specifications or transmission requirements can change the starting price; the full scope and payable total are agreed before work begins.
One minor service starts at AED 650. If a separate interval service is also due within the same twelve months, those two visits start at AED 1,600 combined. A minor visit and a separate major service start at AED 3,250 combined. Do not add two packages for the same visit: the larger package already includes the smaller package’s work. These totals exclude VAT and extra work.
Age and annual mileage
Use the following annual planning allowances for an ordinary petrol A3 driven around 10,000–20,000 km per year, with no known major fault. They are base planning allowances, not an annual spending limit. They apply to our independent-workshop pricing, not Audi agency invoices. The 0–3-year allowance covers scheduled work only; from 4 years onward, the ranges include scheduled servicing and ordinary wear. VAT, major unexpected repairs, accident damage and ownership costs such as fuel and insurance are excluded.
| A3 age | Base budget at 10,000–20,000 km/year, excluding VAT | Budget basis |
|---|---|---|
| 0–3 years | AED 650–1,600 | Scheduled servicing; add uncovered wear. Deduct visits paid by an active service plan. |
| 4–6 years | AED 1,600–3,500 | Scheduled servicing plus ordinary wear such as a battery or brake work when due. |
| 7–9 years | AED 2,500–5,000 | Scheduled work and a larger allowance for worn parts. Diagnose faults separately. |
| 10+ years | AED 3,000–6,500 | Scheduled work and ordinary wear across several ageing components; overdue catch-up work may exceed this. |
A recent major service and healthy tyres move the next year’s budget towards the lower end. High mileage, several wear items due together or missing records move it upwards. A major-service year can exceed the youngest-car allowance; use the AED 2,600 starting package price when that work is due. No age band is a replacement deadline.
AED 650–1,600 for scheduled work
Look at the service agreement supplied with the car, its remaining time and mileage, and the visits already used. Covered scheduled work may involve no additional payment at the visit, but a prepaid plan still has a cost. Tyres, accidental damage and other exclusions can remain your responsibility.
For a high-mileage commuter, the next mileage-triggered service may arrive sooner than expected. Budget from the remaining kilometres to the next visit, not simply the car’s birthday.
Allow AED 1,600–3,500 annually
Review dated records for time-dependent fluids and the items specified for your engine. Inspect tyre condition, brake wear and battery performance. Establish whether earlier replacements have already dealt with those costs before setting money aside again.
A service plan ending can change your out-of-pocket spending even if the car is running normally. Ask for a list of work expected over the next twelve months, based on your projected mileage.
Allow AED 2,500–5,000 annually
Start with scheduled servicing, then price any confirmed wear or faults individually. A coolant leak, weak air conditioning, suspension noise or gearbox symptom requires assessment; it is not automatically part of a major service.
Keep some money available for an unexpected repair, but do not treat that reserve as a bill the car will inevitably produce. Ask which issues need immediate action, which can be monitored and which are only cosmetic.
AED 3,000–6,500 before major repairs
Service-history gaps and the quality of previous work become central to the estimate. Check what was fitted, when it was fitted and whether the current symptoms suggest a remaining problem. An old invoice for “gearbox work” is less useful than one naming the actual repair.
Before authorising several expensive jobs together, compare the confirmed work with the condition of the whole car and your intended ownership period. Replacing a sound car also brings purchase and inspection costs; a repair decision needs more than its age or resale value alone.
How mileage changes the figure
Use both the car’s current odometer reading and the distance you expect to drive during the next twelve months. The current reading and last-service record show which jobs are approaching; annual mileage shows how many will fall within your budget period. Follow each item’s applicable time or distance limit, whichever comes first.
| Annual driving | How to use the budget |
|---|---|
| Below 10,000 km | Do not reduce every cost in proportion to kilometres. Calendar-based services still fall due, and battery, tyre and rubber-component condition still matter. |
| 10,000–20,000 km | Use the age table as a base allowance, then add known repairs and service items due on your actual car. |
| Above 20,000 km | Build a mileage-led schedule of every visit and replacement expected during the year. The age-table allowance is no longer a reliable total. |
Count each upcoming service threshold from the recorded last service. Price the package due at that visit, then add any separate brake-fluid, transmission or timing-drive work that applies. Do not charge for a minor service again inside an interval or major package. High-mileage driving does not multiply every cost equally: steady motorway use and repeated stop-start trips can produce different wear even at the same distance.
An expensive year after ten
AED 6,500 is not a ceiling for a ten-year-old A3. A car needing several suspension components, tyres and overdue maintenance can cost substantially more. A car whose worn parts were replaced recently may cost much less. Age does not establish which parts have failed.
The higher suspension allowances below are for original-part budgeting, including the stated parts and fitting, before VAT. Suitable quality aftermarket parts can bring the price down. They are separate repair items, not additions automatically required every year. Electronically controlled dampers and unusual specifications need a separate price. Agency pricing is outside these workshop ranges.
| Work | Our price range before VAT | Scope |
|---|---|---|
| Conventional shock absorbers | AED 1,500–4,500 per pair | Two fitted dampers on one axle. Mounts, bearings, bump stops, springs and alignment are extra unless listed. |
| Four conventional dampers | AED 3,000–9,000 | Planning total for two axle pairs using the pair range above. Only replace both pairs when inspection supports it; related components are extra. |
| Control arm replacement | Around AED 700 each, fitted | Original-part guide price for a common A3 control arm. Confirm the arm position and exact part; additional hardware, seized bolts and alignment are separate. |
| Four-wheel alignment | AED 250–450 | Measurement and adjustment where possible after necessary repairs. Worn parts or seized adjusters are extra. |
For example, a major service at AED 2,600, four conventional dampers at an assumed AED 6,000, two control arms at AED 700 each and alignment at AED 350 total AED 10,350 before VAT. This illustrates a larger repair year using original-part allowances; it is not the price every A3 owner will pay. Mounts, tyres and any further repairs would increase it. Do not add the age allowance on top of this total: build one list of the actual work and count each item once.

What the service should cover
Ask the workshop to match the service to the vehicle’s records and applicable schedule. Oil grade alone is not enough: the oil approval and quantity must suit the engine. An inspection should produce useful findings, including measured wear where relevant, rather than a generic list of boxes ticked.

| Service need | What decides the work | What to check in the quote |
|---|---|---|
| Engine oil and filter | Applicable time or mileage interval and vehicle service information | Oil approval, quantity, filter and labour |
| Air and cabin filters | Schedule plus condition and exposure | Both filters named separately; inspection versus replacement |
| Spark plugs | Petrol engine specification and recorded replacement | Correct plug type, quantity and labour |
| Brake fluid | Time-based requirement for the exact vehicle | Fluid replacement and bleeding scope, not a level top-up |
| Gearbox or quattro fluids | Transmission and driveline identification | Correct circuit, fluid, filter where applicable and procedure |
| Timing drive | Engine identification and relevant belt schedule or diagnosed chain issue | Parts and shared-access work itemised |
| Brakes, tyres and battery | Inspection, measurement, condition or test result | Exact size/specification, parts, fitting and necessary setup |
Dubai traffic, dust, long periods parked and frequent short journeys are useful details to tell the workshop. They can affect the inspection priorities and the applicable usage category. They do not justify inventing one shorter service interval for every A3 in the UAE.
Weak cabin cooling also does not automatically mean an annual refrigerant refill is due. A cooling complaint should be assessed so a leak or other fault is not hidden by repeated refills. The same principle applies to coolant loss and frequent oil top-ups.
Your A3 version changes things
Identify the engine and gearbox
Send the model year, VIN and engine details when requesting a price. “Audi A3 automatic” is not enough to specify transmission maintenance. Dry-clutch and wet-clutch S tronic versions do not share one universal fluid-and-filter requirement. Confirm the gearbox code, the applicable schedule and the exact fluid circuit before approving work.
Do not buy a gearbox-oil service as a presumed cure for judder, delayed engagement or a warning message. Those symptoms may require diagnosis first. Routine maintenance and repairing a fault are different jobs, even when both concern the same transmission.
Check belt or chain fitment
The A3 name spans different engines and timing-drive arrangements. Do not apply a timing-belt interval found online to an unidentified engine, or assume a chain needs replacement because the car reaches a particular birthday. Ask the workshop to explain the applicable requirement or the evidence supporting repair.
Audi’s vehicle-specific owner information is a useful starting point. Maintenance documentation must also match the model year and market. For example, Audi’s Australian MY23 service table distinguishes work by model and engine; its intervals should not be copied wholesale to a UAE car.
This guide focuses on ordinary petrol A3 ownership. Obtain a separate estimate for an S3, RS3, imported diesel or plug-in hybrid. Different brakes, driveline components or additional systems can change both servicing and repairs.
Wear can change the total
A year with fresh tyres and brake work will cost more than a year with only scheduled servicing. That does not mean the routine service itself has become more expensive. Keep those categories separate so you can compare one year with another honestly.

For brakes, ask for pad and disc measurements against the relevant limits, and whether the quote covers one axle or both. For tyres, compare the correct size and load/speed specification, fitting and balancing. Larger optional wheels can change tyre prices, so another A3 owner’s invoice may be a poor comparison.
For a battery, confirm the required type, capacity, fitting and any vehicle-specific registration or adaptation. A slow start or repeated discharge can also involve charging or electrical issues. Testing before replacement can prevent paying for a new battery while the cause remains.
Build your annual budget
Make a twelve-month list using your expected driving distance. Add the scheduled work due during that period, confirmed wear and diagnosed repairs. Remove work already covered by a plan and avoid charging the same oil or filter twice when it is included in a larger service.

Calculate your maintenance total
Start with AED 650, AED 950 or AED 2,600 for the service package due, then add separately priced wear, repairs and VAT. Deduct service-plan cover. The worksheet totals your entries; it does not add an age allowance on top or predict repairs.
Entered total AED 0.00
Monthly equivalent AED 0.00
An emergency reserve is extra money you choose to keep available, not a predicted invoice. Fuel, insurance, registration, parking and depreciation are outside this maintenance total.
Low mileage does not erase age
An older car used for short local trips may reach a calendar-based service requirement before a mileage threshold. A newer car driven long distances may need more service visits within one year. In both cases, the relevant schedule and the recorded last service decide the work.
A monthly allowance is a saving method, not a promise that bills arrive evenly. If tyres and a scheduled service fall due in the same month, money set aside earlier makes that combined bill easier to manage.
The first year with a used A3
The first year after buying a used A3 can include work the previous owner deferred. Treat this catch-up amount separately from the cost of maintaining the car once it is up to date. Otherwise a single expensive first year can give a misleading picture of normal ownership.
- Read the invoices. Check dates, mileage, parts and the actual work done. A service reminder reset does not establish that everything due was completed.
- Inspect before agreeing a price. Include the engine, cooling, gearbox behaviour, brakes, tyres, battery and air conditioning in the discussion. Ask about symptoms and recent fluid top-ups.
- Price the findings. Separate safety issues, overdue maintenance and comfort or cosmetic work. Unexplained symptoms may need more testing before a reliable repair estimate exists.
- Rebuild the baseline. Keep the approved work and invoice together, with the next due date or mileage recorded.
An Audi pre-purchase inspection can help you identify costs before purchase. It cannot guarantee that a future fault will never occur, but a clear report is more useful for budgeting than the seller’s description of “fully serviced.”
Compare quotes on equal terms
Ask each workshop to quote the same job for the same car. Check parts brands and specifications, labour, fluids, consumables, diagnostic charges and the final tax-inclusive total. A lower quote can be reasonable when it offers a suitable parts alternative; it can also be incomplete. The written scope tells you which.
Do not assume a scan is included in an oil service, or that paying for an initial scan covers every diagnostic test. For an intermittent fault, agree the first test stage, its charge and the point at which further approval is needed.
Service plan or warranty
A service plan pays for listed maintenance under its terms. A warranty deals with covered failures under different terms. Neither automatically covers every wear item or pre-existing fault. Check the expiry, mileage limit, transfer rules, exclusions and claim requirements in the actual agreement.
For a prepaid package, compare the cost of the visits you are likely to use during ownership. Do not divide a multi-visit price by one year unless those visits really fall within that year. If you may sell the car soon, transferability and unused-visit rules matter.
Allow time for diagnosis
Ask whether the car can be collected after the service or needs to stay. Routine maintenance and an intermittent complaint have different time requirements. A cold-start noise, heat-dependent leak or overnight battery drain may require the workshop to keep the vehicle so the right conditions can be observed.
Tell the workshop about the symptom when booking, and ask about parts availability and the expected approval process. Adding a fault investigation at drop-off can change the time needed. For broader quote questions, see our Audi service cost guide.
Questions A3 owners ask
Does the annual budget apply to any mileage?
No. The age-based allowances assume 10,000–20,000 km per year at our independent workshop. Higher-mileage cars need a budget based on every service and wear item due during the year. Low-mileage cars still need calendar-based maintenance.
Can an older A3 cost more than AED 6,500 in one year?
Yes. Suspension replacement, tyres, overdue work or major faults can take the total above that amount. The age allowance is not a ceiling. Price the actual work once, using the service and repair tables, rather than adding a complete repair list to the full allowance.
How much does an Audi A3 service cost?
Our minor service starts at AED 650, interval service at AED 950 and major service with applicable gearbox-fluid maintenance at AED 2,600. VAT is extra. The package table lists the included work; repairs and unlisted wear items are separate.
Is an older Audi A3 always more expensive to maintain?
No. Condition, mileage and previous work can matter more than age alone. An older car with documented recent maintenance may need less immediate spending than a newer one with neglected service items.
Should every A3 have a major service annually?
No. Ask for the work due under the exact vehicle’s schedule and service history. “Major service” is a package name whose contents vary between workshops; it is not a universal annual requirement.
Is gearbox oil included in an A3 service?
Our major service starts at AED 2,600 excluding VAT and includes applicable transmission-fluid maintenance alongside the listed engine service items. Minor and interval packages do not include it. We identify the gearbox by VIN and confirm the correct fluid circuit and filter requirement before booking. Fault repairs are separate.
Can I reduce costs with alternative parts?
Ask for a named, suitable alternative with the correct specification and clear warranty terms. Compare the complete fitted price. An unspecified “OEM quality” description is less useful than the actual manufacturer and part details.
Does maintenance cost include running costs?
In this guide, maintenance covers servicing, wear and repairs. Fuel, insurance, registration, parking and depreciation are separate. Include those separately when comparing the total cost of owning an A3.
What should I send for an accurate estimate?
Send the model year, mileage, VIN, engine details if known, recent service invoices and any current symptoms. Say how far you expect to drive over the next year and whether a service plan or warranty remains active.
Plan your next A3 service
Send your A3’s year, mileage and last service details. We can help establish which work is due and prepare a vehicle-specific estimate before you approve it.
